FutureGen Investments (“FutureGen”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is the investment arm of the Alzu Group. For personal information processed through this website and our related communications, FutureGen is the responsible party as contemplated in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

This policy applies when you visit future-gen.co.za, contact us, submit an investment or partnership enquiry, communicate with our team, or otherwise interact with us in circumstances connected to this website.

It does not govern the separate privacy practices of portfolio companies, investee businesses, service providers, or third-party websites. Those organisations may have their own privacy notices.

2. Personal information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

Please do not send us special personal information, confidential information belonging to another person, or extensive identity documentation unless we have requested it and there is a lawful and secure reason to do so.

5. Lawful grounds for processing

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

6. When we share personal information

We do not sell personal information. We may share it only as reasonably necessary with:

  • other entities within the Alzu Group and authorised FutureGen personnel;
  • professional advisers, auditors, insurers, banks, due-diligence providers, and transaction counterparties;
  • website hosting, cloud, email, analytics, security, IT support, and other service providers acting under appropriate obligations;
  • portfolio companies, prospective investees, co-investors, partners, or other parties where relevant to a proposed or existing business relationship and lawful to do so;
  • regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies, government authorities, or other persons where required or permitted by law; and
  • a successor or relevant participant in a merger, reorganisation, financing, acquisition, sale, or transfer involving all or part of our business or assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We require service providers that process personal information for us to protect it and to process it only in accordance with our instructions and applicable law.

7. Cross-border transfers

Some service providers or recipients may process personal information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer complies with POPIA, including by using recipients subject to adequate data-protection laws, appropriate contractual safeguards, binding corporate rules, your consent where appropriate, or another lawful transfer mechanism.

No online system or transmission is completely secure. If we become aware of a security compromise involving your personal information, we will take appropriate steps and notify the Information Regulator and affected persons where POPIA requires this.

11. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet legal or contractual obligations, to manage risk, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Retention periods vary according to the nature and sensitivity of the information, the relationship involved, legal requirements, and potential disputes. When information is no longer required, we will delete, destroy, de-identify, or securely archive it as appropriate.

12. Your rights

Subject to POPIA and applicable limitations, you may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
  • correct or update information that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out of date;
  • delete or destroy information that we are no longer authorised to retain;
  • object to certain processing on reasonable grounds;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • stop processing your information for direct marketing; and
  • provide information about a decision based solely on automated processing, if applicable.

To protect you and others, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some rights may be restricted where the law requires or permits us to retain or continue processing information. We will explain any applicable restriction.

This website is intended for business and professional audiences and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the website.
